Facelift

A St Bernard dog has been given a "facelift" to stop his skin folds from rubbing on his eyes.
At the age of two Boycie suffered from excess skin folds, which left him without sight.
Boyce, who is being cared for by the Dogs Trust, in Canterbury, had a section of skin on the top of his head removed so the rest of his skin could be "lifted" and stitched back together.

Thanks for that. What you don't mention is that Boyce can see at last! He's due another operation to reshape his eyelids, but the important work has been done.

I last saw a St Bernard on the way up the Jungfrau in Switzerland - there's a group of them kept for visitors' curiosity, I think. Fine dogs as long as you don't expect them to take much exercise!

What good news - I have never owned a St Bernard but have known a few on life's journey they are gentle giants and very laid back.

I think he'll be happy about that.

How was he after the facelift surgery? I hope he's doing great. He'd be able to see things more clearly now. He's so adorable! I want to hug him. =)

Heh, that's quite adorable. Indeed, cosmetic (or reconstructive) procedures like a facelift can help animals like Boyce out. Excess skin can be very inconvenient and may lead to problems like this - which was thankfully solved.
